Shall i have a day break between exercise?

I have a new work out routine that involves 20 minutes of Cardio and 20 minutes of abs, i was planning to do this every day, but i read that its good to have a day off between every workout to let your muscles relax and also that it tones you easier? is that true? or shall i just do it everyday for better results?
