Any tips on how to lose the layer of fat on my chest and abs area that hides my hard earned muscle?

I love working out and I try to do it every night. I know I have muscle but I also have some fat that hides the muscle. I do some cardio because I live next to a river and I swim alot in the summer. I think the fat is there because of the lack of cardio any effective cardio work outs that might get rid of this?
